Shoes called ‘reşik’, an Urartian and Kurdish tradition, are being revived by Mecit Emen today. Shoemaker Mecit Emen points out that this cultural heritage is in danger of extinction, stating that he is the only person who has been producing rats for thirty years. Reşik reflects a historical past by embodying both Urartian and Kurdish motifs.

Goat hair, which is used in raccoons, is known to be resistant to water and moth. In addition, these shoes prevent the formation of bacteria and eliminate sweating problems. Adult shoes are preferred by folk dance teams, television programs, fashion designers and enthusiasts abroad as well as for daily use.
