CHP Spokesperson Faik Öztrak stated that only 300 of the ballot boxes from abroad were not counted and said, “It is certain that the presidential elections will result in the second round.”
Republican People’s Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman and party spokesman Faik Öztrak held a press conference at the CHP Headquarters regarding the election results. Providing information on the election results at the meeting, Öztırak stated that yesterday’s elections showed that Erdoğan did not receive a vote of confidence from the public.
‘Presidential election has reached the second round’
Noting that almost all of the ballot boxes have been counted in the current situation, Öztrak said: “Of the ballot boxes coming from abroad, only around 300 ballot boxes have not been counted yet. These will not change the result either. It is now certain that the presidential election will result in the second round. The presidential election is definitely in the second round.”
‘We will definitely win in the second round’
Noting that the participation rate in the elections was ninety percent, Öztrak thanked the observers, lawyers and volunteers waiting at the ballot boxes and said: “We are sure that they will show the great sacrifice they showed until the morning last night on May 28, and that even a single vote of our nation will be wasted. For the next 15 days, we will do our best to bring right, law and justice to this country. The will of our nation is above all else. We will definitely win in the second round. The Nation Alliance will take the lead. We will win. The winner will be democracy, the winner will be Türkiye.”
According to the provisional results, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who received 49.51 percent of the votes in the first round, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who received 44.88 percent of the vote, will compete again in the second round on 28 May. The president who receives the majority of valid votes in the second round will be elected.
