It was stated in the statement that the geographical indication registration of the rugs, one of the most important cultural elements of the province, which has been woven with natural products in the region from the past to the present, has been made by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office:
“It has been registered that the Hakkari rug and the canbezar, sahvani, gulsarya, herki, samari, luleper, simkubik, cilgul, gulhezar, halitbey, keskener, sine, gulçin, gulsivan and hevçeker motifs embroidered on these rugs are unique to Hakkari. With the support of the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency, chaired by Hakkari Governor and Deputy Mayor İdris Akbıyık, the number of registered products in the city increased to 9 with the rug registered in the name of Hakkari Chamber of Commerce and Industry.”
